| What does a reflexologist 'see' when they look at your feet? |
Some people are very self conscious when their feet are examined. However, for a reflexologist the shape, colour, texture, flexibility and general condition of your feet can give us strong clues as to what may be going on for you. In the reflexology world this is known as 'reading' the feet.
A build up of dry, hard skin may not necessarily be due to ill-fitting shoes, perhaps it has built up to cushion sensitive reflexology reflexes in that area. For instance, callouses around the edges and backs of the heels could indicate a pelvic imbalance whereas yellow skin on the balls of the feet may suggest that you have a high level of toxicity in the chest area - this is not unusual for smokers.
So, please don't feel self conscious about your feet when you come for a treatment. There is no need to scrape off hard skin and moisturise - we NEED to see your feet as they are! We see so many feet every day and we're not here to judge.
