Looking forward to 2012

I can’t believe that 2011 is nearly over. This year went very fast and has been a year of many changes, mainly for the better.

I hope that 2011 was a good year for all of you.

I’m looking forward to seeing you in 2012 and also to meeting those of you who received reflexology vouchers for Christmas. Get in touch next week to book your next appointment.

Looking for a maternity reflexologist near you?

I often receive emails from people you live too far away to come for treatments with me and are looking for a reflexologist with the same maternity reflexology training as me near to their home.

I trained with Susanne Enzer and completed the additional coursework required to receive the ‘Certificate in Competency’. All reflexologists with this certificate are listed on Susanne’s website in postcode order so it is easy to find a maternity reflexologist near you.

Starting to learn reflexology

A couple of nights ago my children were asking me to teach them how to ‘do reflexology’. This may have been a clever tactic to put off bedtime but they were very enthusiastic and keen and so I thought I’d indulge them.

In my first ever reflexology lesson we were encouraged to hold our hands over and around our partner’s feet just to get a sense of their being and to see what we could feel. Our fabulous teacher, Rosalind Oxenford, gave no suggestions as to what we should or shouldn’t be feeling but just to go with the flow.

Remembering this occasion I repeated the same instructions to my children. My son instantly felt uncomfortable with this as he wanted to be told exactly what to do and what he should feel. I reassured him that there were no rights or wrongs. A few moments later he said, “I don’t feel anything, just resistance” which I thought was a great response. My daughter said she felt a feeling of warmth. They were both using their own intuition and tuning into me.

We then swapped places and I held my hands over their feet in turn and they both reported what they could feel without any touch being involved.

After this we practised a few linking techniques (precision reflexology). I showed them how to hold either side of the neck of the big toe with their middle fingers and we talked about how reassuring this felt. My daughter was particularly receptive to this and could feel warmth in her neck before I’d told her that the neck of the big toe relates to the neck reflex. My son then surprised me by linking two totally different reflexes on my own feet saying that he had a feeling that it would help me and they were actually particularly significant reflexes for me.

They went to bed very happily after this. I’m looking forward to their next ‘lesson’.
